Revice hasn't finished airing yet as of the time of this post. But since we're finished with the first quarter of the show and we now have all the main auxiliary forms out of the way, I think it'd be fun to list out the references to the Legend Riders in Revice so far. First of let's start with:
THE SUITS
Revice's auxilary forms are based on a previous Rider combined with an animal motif, the combos between the two don't make sense usually and are only paired together cause their designs probably flowed best with their given animal. I also like how sleek and simple these forms are, opting for using Revi's own color scheme instead of becoming bulky and overly complicated looking like the Zi-O Armors.
But while most of these Genome are based on the Riders' main forms, some of them references other forms. Such as:
Revi Eagle Genome has a trench coat, which was a scrapped idea for Kamen Rider Double's design.
Mammoth Genome resembles Den-O's Sword Form, however he uses boomerangs, which references Den-O Wing Form's weapon.
Mammoth Genome resembles Den-O's Sword Form, however he uses boomerangs, which references Den-O Wing Form's weapon.
Ptera Genome's chest design is based on Faiz Axel Form, with the flaps being made to look like pterodactyl wings. Also fun fact: these can close, just like Faiz. This form is also super fast just like Axel Form.
Lion Genome's spikey mane design is based on Ultimate Form, Kuuga's final form in his series.
Jackal Genome riding a skateboard references Ex-Aid's 90s inspired "radical" motif, similar to the bike in Shakariki Sports. Kamen Rider Evil Jackal Genome is based on Kamen Rider Genm, the dark counterpart to Ex-Aid.
You'd think that Kamakiri Genome would use two swords like Gaim, but instead he is equipped with a bow. This is a reference to Gaim's Jimber Arms forms, all of which are equipped with the Sonic Arrow.
Kong Genome being able to fire out his fists is similar to Fourze Rocket States having rocket hands. Even Zi-O's Fourze Armor has a similar ability with being able to fire the rockets off his hands to act as projectiles.
Finally, we have Brachio Genome. The size of his shoulders and the length of his watch band makes me believe this form is paying tribute to Ohma Zi-O, Zi-O's dark counterpart from the future. This is backed up some more with the Vistamp, where the dino on it is gold, one of Ohma Zi-O's colors.
Phew, with those out of the way, let's move onto:
VISTAMPS
The Vistamp announcements usually incporate a phrase referencing a Riders' quote or transformation sound, but changed to fit the animal motif. These include:
Eagle: Omae no hane o kazoeru (Count your wings!) - (Based off of Kamen Rider Double's catchprase "Now, count up your sins!")
Mammoth: "This has been a climax from the start!" (Based off of Momotaros's catchphrase "From start to finish, I'm at climax all the way!")
Megalodon: "Just a passing through Hu-Hu-Hu-Hunter!" (Based off of Tsukasa Kadoya's catchphrase "I'm just a passing-through Kamen Rider." and the Decadriver's shuttering sound effect used in Final Rides like "De-De-De-Decade!")
Lion: "Please look at my roar!" (Based off of Yusuke Godai's line "Please look at my transformation!" from his first transformation into Kuuga Mighty Form.)
Jackal: "I'll clear this nonstop!" (Based off of Emu Hojo's line "I'll clear this with No Continues!")
Kong: "It's drumming time!" (Based off of Gentaro Kisaragi's famous "Space is here!"). The transformation announcement also has a reference to Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon. "ARM! STRONG!", which is fitting considering Fourze's astronaut motif. What's with Fourze Legend items and their cool references
Kamakiri: Ore-tachi on Stage! This is a reference to Gaim Orange Arms' transformation announcement "Hanamichi on Stage" as well as Kouta Kazuraba's catchphrase "Kore kara Ore no Stage da!", or more accurately its variant "Kore kara ore-tachi no stage da!" that he uses in some episodes, since the Vistamp is referring to both Revi and Vice.
Brachio: The entire first half of its transformation announcement is based on Ohma Zi-O's transformation sound. It's second half is a rejoice announcement that Woz would everytime Zi-O gains a new form.
Now those are pretty cool. Finally, I wanna take a look at the Legend Rider references in the:
EPISODES
In episode 1, it's revealed that Vistamps were founded in 1971, the same year the first Kamen Rider series aired. Later, we see George doing the Kamen Rider 1 pose.
In episode 2, VIce did Shotaro and Philip's transformation poses. Right after he transforms, Vice Eagle Genome does W's signature pose.
In episode 3, Vice Eagle Gemome is seen doing Double's pose again. Later on, when Ikki is about to transform into Mammoth Genome, Vice can be seen doing the Ore Sanjou pose. Mammoth Genome's transformation is similar to Den-O Sword Form's. Vice partly references Momotaros' catchphrase, Ore Sanjou (I have arrived). But instead said "Ore, Vice desu" which means "I... am Vice". Mammoth Genome's Remix form summons tracks for it to ride on, just like the Den-Liner.
And finally, after defeating the Kong Deadman, Vice is briefly seen doing the Ore Sanjou pose.
In episode 5 and 6, Vice can be seen doing the Kuuga transformation pose and signature thumbs up.
In episode 7, Vice did one of Ex-Aid's poses before turning into a skateboard.
In episode 8, George does Fourze's iconic Uchuu Kitaa pose.
In episode 9, Vice says "Kono ga wa, orecchi on stage". Which means "This is me on stage", which combines Kouta's catchphrase along with the Orange Arms transformation announcement, similar to the Kamakiri Vistamp.
In episode 10, Vice does Sougo Tokiwa's transformation pose. Right after he transforms, he says "Vice Time!" which references the RIder Time announcements from the Ziku Driver. He also tries to do Zi-O's pose, though he doesn't have movable fingers so it's hard to pull off. Fun fact: Sougo has never did this pose himself in his series.
I like the suits in Revice because they're are to balance being a tribute to the Rider, incoporate the animal motif and find a way to fuse into a giant CGI animal while still making the suits look uniformed via the colors.
There's still plenty more Vistamp and references to come in the future, so be sure to stick around for a part 2.
